Ask my girlfriend for verification of the fact calming me down from my emotions and panic attacks is not easy. I have really severe anxiety and a bunch of other junk I don't really want to talk about.
The best thing that helps is a distraction so I can think about my emotions while enjoying myself! I've noticed in our relationship, it really does help to just sit down an enjoy a show or a movie.
